由她翻译的《唐.吉诃德》被公认为最优秀的翻译作品，到2014年已累计发行70多万册。

谢邀。两者只在不同时间有可比性，我无法说清楚哪个更好，但能给出一些建议。
有时间的话当然是多看书好。看书的素材量虽然比不上直接背素材，但看书所积累的素材印象会更深，因为是真正你所吸收的东西，在应用时也会更灵活，因为你知道那句话或那段素材的语境，而且看书最大的优点在于培养写作思维过程和观念意识，经常看书的人写出来的作文不会干涩，且观点会让人眼前一亮。简单粗暴地说就是写作文时思路不会断，不用写一下想一下，写出来的内容也会显得更有x格，论点角度刁钻、深刻又易于理解，比普通人写的谁都知道的观点强出一条街，能够在平庸中脱颖而出。
当然背素材也是可取的，因为看书得来的素材不会太多，且书不会实时更新，但素材会。只要注意在看素材背素材时找准它适用于哪些话题（相当于标签），而且背准确了，最好有出处，最好是能信手拈来，不要在写作文时有印象却死命想不出完整的。毕竟素材的运用在作文中很加分。
到了高三复习时真的是几乎所有时间都在刷题，很难有固定又充裕的时间看课外书（除非你很强），无非就是题刷累了看个书休息一下。
P.S.其实到高中素材运用的灵活性更高，不再限于经典和名言，所有你读过的小说，看过的电影电视剧动漫，听过的歌甚至网上的段子都可以作为素材，只要它合理切题，引用得当。
P.P.S.千万千万不要沉迷小说（重点在沉迷不是小说），这个真的烧时间。（别问我是怎么知道的）
